Nice recap, Adrian! I believe the security concerns are quite valid for the regular, non technical people. I don’t see PWAs replacing the need for native apps but definitely some apps can be better implemented as PWAs. IMHO some additional verification/certification might be needed for extra confidence.
When it comes to PWA and native app substituation, I personally think we are just in the early stages. The Browser landscape, the ecosystem are still too wild west.
There is potential to become the one platform, since it removes so many barriers. But, as I pointed out in this article, we propably will see some regulations for PWAs as well in the future. Just because it is Wild West right now.
This shall not mean I dislike the idea of freedom here; it's quite the opposite. But I try to be a pragmatic realist and help the actual business owners to really get onboard with the idea and understand the potential.
PWA is a way to build apps, not THE way. But it deserves it's spot between the traditional frameworks and ecosytems and I think this is what it's about.
