The following is a brief message to fellow entrepreneurs who are overwhelmed with ideas and kept awake at night. You might celebrate this as a great gift, but without discipline, it’s your prison – please think about it 🙏
The Muse without Discipline can be your worst enemy, while disguising itself as your eternal source of ideas.
Entrepreneurs don’t need discipline to get started; that spark comes naturally, but we do need discipline to stay focused and avoid being pulled in every direction.
Over time, the body and mind can’t keep up without balance: food & nutrition, fitness, and rest are as important as the vision itself.
Otherwise, that vision becomes a burden instead of a driver.
👉 It can literally destroy people’s lives: yours and the ones around you. Or what exactly do you tell your family why you are doing that? For them? 😀 Nope. You do it because your mind tells you to. Be honest. Acceptance is the final stage of the grieving process. You need to control that.
For me, the key has been to channel the Muse with structure and discipline:
✅ Self-reflection
✅ Daily journaling
✅ Knowing what I can control vs. what I need to let go (Stoicism)
✅ Setting boundaries with time & energy
✅ Creating rituals for focus (morning/evening routines)
✅ Prioritization instead of chasing everything at once
✅ Regular digital detox & silence
✅ Keeping fitness and nutrition non-negotiable
✅ Allowing boredom to spark creativity (instead of filling every gap with work)
✅ Celebrating small wins to keep momentum without burning out
Visions alone are not enough!
Doing this for more than 20 years now, I’ve learned that visions alone are not enough – they only matter when you can pull them into reality. They only matter if you actually can stay and become a happy person, enjoying what you do there. Otherwise, you are a creative slave – a slave to your own mind.
PS: Sleep at night, no matter who you are.
